Uppem Manor – A brief history

Up until 1933, The Upp family had been resident at Uppem Manor for several generations; it is believed that the house was originally built back in 1753. The last member of the family to reside at the Manor was Luke Upp.

Unfortunately when Luke committed suicide in 1933 the land and all of his belongings reverted back to the state. The National Society of Stately Homes took on the Manor and it has since become a popular tourist attraction.

Luke’s son, Adam, went missing shortly before Luke’s death and many people believed this to be the cause of this tragic event. Adam has not been seen since 1933. Check out our blog for more details.
